Information for Presenters
- All poster sessions take place in Exhibit Hall C & D.
- All posterboards will be delivered and setup by 9 am on Sunday, May 4, 2024. All posters must be installed on the assigned board by 11 am. Once you have finished putting up your poster, please exit the poster hall until it has opened.
- Your poster must be displayed on the appropriate poster board for the entire scheduled two-hour period.
Preparing and Presenting Poster Abstracts
- Poster abstracts will be presented as traditional flat board posters
- There will be one dedicated 2-hour poster session.
- Your poster must remain on display during the entire session of your presentation. After the poster presentation, you will have until 9 pm to remove your poster. Posters remaining on poster boards, on the floor or in poster area will be removed for discard.
Presentation Skills Toolkit for Students and Residents
The ability to design and deliver an effective presentation is an important skill for all learners to develop. The Undergraduate Medical Education Section of the Group on Educational Affairs developed this new toolkit as a resource for trainees as they learn to create and give effective presentations in the classroom, in the clinical setting, and at academic meetings and conferences. Resources on developing and delivering formal lectures and presentations, poster and oral abstract presentations, patient presentations, and leading small group sessions are included.
Awards
- Three (3) categories have been selected to receive MESRE awards. These are: best oral presentation (research), best oral presentation (innovation), and best poster.
- Winners will be acknowledged during the awards ceremony on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 8 am.
Preparing and Presenting Traditional Flat Board Posters
For preparing the traditional flat board poster — here are the guidelines that we request you adhere to for preparing your poster materials:
- Poster-board size is eight feet wide (96 inches/243 cm) by four feet high (48 inches/121 cm)
- Poster-boards will have two (2) posters assigned per side.
- Posters MUST be equal or less than 3.75 feet wide (45 inches/114 cm) by 3.75 feet high (45 inches/114 cm)
- The presentation title should be printed across the top of the poster in characters of at least 70 pt. authors and affiliation(s) should be at least 36 pt. subheadings should be at least 24 pt and all text, including figures and tables, should be no smaller than 16 pt.
- In no case, should text be less than 16-point in size. Use a font that is easy to read from a distance such as Arial or Times Roman.
- Make sure your poster materials include a copy of your abstract
- Prepare all materials in advance — include illustrations, charts, tables, drawings, etc. and keep them simple and clear, with heavy lines and effective use of color — they must be readable at least three feet away
- Onsite, mount visual material on the board using the push pins available in the poster area
- If you bring handouts, always include your contact information so attendees have a means of communicating with you about your research. There are no printing services on site.
Poster Services
- Poster presenters are responsible for printing, shipping, installing, and removing all posters.
- If a poster presenter wants to ship their posters ahead of the conference, you MUST ship to the following location, with all information included:

Any materials received more than forty-eight (48) hours before the event (Wednesday, May 1, 2024 or before) or left behind forty-eight (48) hours after its conclusion (after Thursday, May 9, 2024) will incur storage charges of $50 per day.
